Vancouver Rodeo Mascot: Lumpy
Lumpy was born on April 1st, 1994. At the age of 5 years old, Lumpy won his first award in the very first parade he entered. Dressed as a bald eagle and riding a bike, Lumpy was awarded the Grand Marshall Trophy in the Ridgefield, WA 4th of July Parade. That was the start of the passion of performing in front of large crowds.
At age 7, Lumpy decided he wanted to be a clown. He then created the character, Squeekie, and he and his dog dressed up for parades and took Best Children’s entry in Ridgefield and Grand Marshal Trophy winner in La Center. At that point, Lumpy had the dream of becoming a rodeo clown. Two years later, Lumpy’s dream came true. As Squeekie, he was asked to be a greeter at the Vancouver Rodeo Queen’s Try-outs and Coronation. As a result, he was asked to be a part of the 2004 Vancouver Rodeo. Knowing that rodeo clowns dress differently than regular clowns, Lumpy did his homework and created his Lumpy character.
Over the last year, Lumpy has diligently worked on perfecting his character. He has performed at several local rodeos. Many recognize Lumpy as the little rodeo clown they have seen in parades picking up the lumps from the Queen's horse and the horses of the Vancouver Rodeo Riders. His most memorable events to date have been meeting Keith Eisley, the 5-time National Specialty Act Champion, and recently spending time with the great Flint Rasmussen.
Lumpy’s favorite motto is . . . NEVER SQUAT WITH YER SPURS ON
